iTeach 2019: There’s a Standard for That
Do you want your students to think outside of the box and become global learners? There’s a standard for that. What about being creators of information and not just consumers? There’s a standard for that. Do you want your students to think, create, share, and grow all while utilizing the school library and its resources? There’s a standard for that.
This session will break down the AASL National School Library Standards in a way that provides concrete examples. We will take time to look at your current lesson plans and crosswalk the frameworks used with the AASL NSLS.
Goal 1: Sharpen the focus and strengthen instruction.

Design Thinking with Hyperdocs
Navigating project teams through the Design Thinking Process can have an array of organizational challenges. By utilizing Hyperdocs, teachers can create an environment for students that assist them in understanding and learning the process of design thinking. Hyperdocs provide the perfect organizational structure for navigating students through the stages of the design thinking process and project-based learning while also creating a collaborative environment for project teams. Teachers can structure the Hyperdocs to facilitate the development of group norms, team member roles, daily task assignments and task plans for future work sessions, research, brainstorming, project development, and iteration. Additionally, students can document their process via images, video and other multimedia. The Hyperdocs format is also flexible enough to be utilized in most G-Suite apps, including Slides, Sites, and Forms. Please bring your laptop!

How to Lead Writing Workshops
Meg will guide those present through a writing workshop that could be adapted for students of all ages (K-12). Attendees will have the chance to respond to writing prompts themselves and learn to use popular books to challenge their own writing style, as students would also be challenged. Results of these writing workshops could be used in the classroom or library to create books and short stories through the full editing process. Meets R.I.S.E. Goal 1: Sharpen the focus and strengthen instruction.
