Michele “Chele” Sterrett

Michele Sterrett grew up in central Missouri and has been involved in educational experiences in towns with populations of 110 to cities of over 100,000 in both public and private schools.  She counts all these experiences as the richest preparation for becoming the teacher library media specialist she is today.  She received her BSE in English, Speech, and Theatre from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, taught those subjects for 25 years then returned to earn a Masters in Library and Information Services at what the University of Central Missouri. She has a great passion for kids and reading and loves to keep the kids guessing as to what will happen next in the library at Fulbright Junior High in Bentonville, AR. Michele was awarded Columbia Missouri’s Middle Educator of the Year and MSTA’s Northwest Missouri Educator of the Year.  She was also the first Educator of the Year for Fulbright Junior High. She loves being in Bentonville, working with some of the most amazing professionals and spending time with her wonderful husband, Creig, a funeral director,  who continues to support all her crazy ventures both financially and emotionally. Her two children, Jena and Will, currently live in Missouri where Will is in radio and Jena is a teacher librarian after she swore she’d never teach.
